John was such a champion for Franklin County Schools! He spent a great deal of time volunteering at Edward Best and we will really miss him, his encouraging smile, and great sense of humor. You're all in my thoughts and prayers for God to comfort you during this time and the days to come.

John was a good friend and mentor. I enjoyed working with him at the NCGA and the AFL-CIO. He was a true example of a Southern Gentleman. Amanda, I remember John bringing you to my office and you helped me with some if my office chores. He was so very proud of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. He will be missed by many.

It is always hard to find words of comfort to offer during a time of loss, but please know my thoughts are with your family. Look to the scripture for comfort. Notice 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 describes a God of comfort, "who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God. " Please allow God word to comfort you during this difficult time and may you find comfort in his promise of a future blessing the resurrection. - John 5:28,29

John was like a member of our extended family, and we already miss him. Always trying to do the things he felt to be right and good, and always thinking of others. His easy laugh and great conversations will be irreplaceable in our hearts and at our table. To Vickie and the family, we extend our deepest condolences. Our loss is heaven's gain: we all know they're going to love him up there, too.

My heart and prayers are with the family. John was an upper classman at EBHS and I have fond memories of him as a friend. As the years have passed, I kept up with different ones through Mama, Alease, and she loved John and he always had time for her. May you find peace and comfort at this time through prayer and family. Share your memories often as this will keep him close to your heart.
