LOUISBURG – William Donald “Rusty” Winstead, 96, of Louisburg, died Friday afternoon at his home.

Rusty was a son of the late Doc and Lillian J. Winstead. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nona Bunn Winstead; sister, Mary Parker Benson; brothers, Closs Winstead, Jerry Winstead and John Winstead.

Rusty was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was a farmer and after he retired from farming he went to work at Bobby Murray Chevrolet for 19 years until he retired from there.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Christian Church Cemetery. Strickland Funeral Home will be open on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm for those who wish to sign the register.

Rusty is survived by his son, Ray Winstead; grandson, Justin Winstead; great-grandchildren, Chandler, Nathaniel and Harper; many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New Hope Christian Church, 2779 NC Hwy 98 W., Louisburg, NC 27549
