Theresia Striedinger Obituary

Theresia Striedinger passed unexpectedly on Sunday, August 23, 2020. She was the first born to Fritz and Marie Striedinger in Bremen, Germany on January 25, 1937.

At the age of only eight years Theresia knew already that she wanted to become a secretary and she followed her dream. Because of money restrictions at home she had to leave her so loved College early and attend a business school instead. She completed her studies early and with high honor. She took her first job at the age of sixteen as a certified secretary.

Theresia attended many evening courses to become a better correspondent in English in word as well as short hand, which was useful as we did not have the easy and fast typing computers of today.

In 1976 Theresia followed her sister to America, to Franklinton exactly, and the team was complete to run by then a well-established business: European Woodworking Machinery. She became a partner and took over as office manager and director of finance. She worked until her terrible accident in 2016, which left her paralyzed. Still her mind was bright and she spent many hours answering account questions and other business dealings.

In her past Time, Theresia enjoyed classical music and a good book. She was a member of O. Henry book club and thoroughly enjoyed her involvement.

Theresia is survived by her sister, Ingrid (Striedinger) Volk and a few cousins in Germany and Austria, their father’s home country. It’s worthy to mention that Theresia became a U.S. Citizen in 2011.

Her sister Ingrid and friends will hold a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Happy Camper, c/o Franklin County Social Services, PO Box 669, Louisburg, NC 27549. It will benefit children who without financial help would never experience a camp life.

Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 103 W. Franklin St. Louisburg, NC 27549.
