Sallie Alford Pappas, 95, of Raleigh, North Carolina went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on September 14, 2022.

Sallie was born on February 25, 1927 in Bunn, NC to the late Benjamin Smith Alford and Lula Stallings Alford. She graduated from Bunn High School and attended Louisburg College. She married the love of her life, the late John Gus Pappas on September 10, 1949. They enjoyed a beautiful life together in Greensboro, NC before retiring in VA. Sallie returned to Raleigh, NC in 2009.

Not only was Sallie a devoted wife and mother, she was also a hard worker. She was passionate about her career in insurance and the time she spent volunteering at Church and schools. She was often seen driving a car full of cheerleaders to a game, patiently helping a child learn to read or preparing a delicious pound cake for a cover dish supper. She adored family reunions in Bunn, being around people and making new friends!

Sallie is predeceased by her nine sisters and brothers.  She is survived by her beloved daughters, Susan Williams (Dave) of Stephens City, VA and Elizabeth “Beth” Ferrel (Bobby) of Durham, NC, her five treasured grandchildren, Laura Dillion (Stephen), Jonathan Williams (Chelsea), John “JP” Ferrel, Robert Ferrel and Sam Ferrel and her one precious great grandson, Jacob Williams.

The family would like express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff of the Memory Care “C” wing of Springmoor for their dedicated care of Sallie during her stay there.

A private family interment is scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sallie’s name can be made to Springmoor Endowment Fund, 1500 Sawmill Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615.
