Phillip Bland Edwards, 73, of Youngsville, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025.

Phillip had a kind and generous heart, and his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, who adored their “Grandpa.” He loved fishing, and he enjoyed cooking meals that brought family and friends together around the table.

For 30 years, Phillip worked faithfully as an electrician/supervisor for the NC Department of Administration, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

Phillip was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who treasured the time he shared with his family. He was married to the love of his life, Ava Susan Edwards, for 52 years. Together they built a beautiful family who brought him endless joy and pride. He is survived by his wife, Ava Susan Edwards; children, Stephen Edwards (Christy) and Katie Gunter (Kiel); and his beloved grandchildren, Ashley Bishop (Ryder), Haley Edwards, Carlee Edwards, Kennedy Gunter, and Kolby Gunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Rachel Edwards, and his brother, Alex Edwards.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, a caring father, a proud grandfather, and a friend to many. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will remain a source of comfort to all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held Saturday August 23, 2025 at Centerville Baptist Church at 2:00 pm, followed by funeral service at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Flowers can be sent to Strickland Funeral Home in Louisburg, NC.
