June 9, 1977 – May 22, 2018

LOUISBURG – Matthew “Matt” Shane Whitley, 40, of the Justice Community, passed away Tuesday morning at his home surrounded by his loving family after a four year fight with Pancreatic Cancer. As Matt’s favorite saying would be “IT IS WHAT IT IS”.

Matt was preceded in death by his maternal-grandfather, Vaden Pearce and his paternal-grandfather, Joe Whitley.

Matt attended Duke Memorial Baptist Church. He worked as an Equipment Manager for Mid Atlantic Infrastructure for 18 years..

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Duke Memorial Baptist Church. A private family burial will follow in the Boone Family Cemetery.

Matt is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Jamie B. Whitley; daughter, Taylor Madison Whitley; mother and father, Wanda and D.L. Whitley; brother, Jeff Whitley; maternal-grandmother, Martha J. Pearce; paternal-grandmother, Mattie P. Whitley all of Zebulon; mother and father-in-law, Ardeth and Jimmy Boone; brother and sister-in-law, Brad and Kelly Boone all of the Justice Community; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg.
