MARY LOUISE OAKLEY MEILLER
March 28, 1944 – December 10, 2023
Mary Louise Oakley Meiller, 79, of Wendell, passed away Sunday night at Franklin Oaks.
Louise was the daughter of the late Alvin and Jenny Y. Oakley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Meiller.
She was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, along with her beloved siblings Marie Oakley Aycock, Alvin Jr. (Bud), Larry, Johnny, and Ricky Oakley. She graduated from Millbrook High School.
Louise cherished spending time with her family and friends. She had a loving and giving heart. In her healthier years, she greatly enjoyed gardening and maintaining a beautiful yard and home. She loved music, especially old country, bluegrass, and gospel music.
She came to know the Lord later in life, was baptized in her early 60s at Pearce Baptist Church in Zebulon, and sought to live to honor the Lord. Due to declining health and some hearing loss, she worshipped at her home on Sunday mornings with Dr. Charles Stanley on television at top volume. Oh how she loved his preaching.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Mitzi Nash Abbott and husband Tim, and Tonya Nash Miles and husband Bruce; grandchildren Brandon Abbott (Briana), Michaela Abbott Soucy (Kyle), Samantha Miles Cochran (Andrew), Dakota Miles, and Jacob Miles; great-granddaughter, Mabel Cochran; brother, Johnny Oakley; and several nieces and nephews. Also of special mention are her two former sisters-in-law, Faye Nash and Gayle Nash Strum, and her dear friends at Crestfield.
A private service will be held. The family will receive friends at their homes. Burial will take place at the Red Bud Baptist Church Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 103 W. Franklin Street Louisburg, N.C. 27549 www.stricklandfuneralhome.net.
