KEVIN J. JOHNSON

October 28, 1980 – October 11, 2023

Kevin John Johnson, 42, of Wendell, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday afternoon at his home surrounded by his family.

Kevin is preceded in death by his grandparents, Junius and Geraldine Phillips, and Moses Johnson and Eva Cockrell; and uncle, Joe Phillips.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday night, October 16, 2023, at Central Baptist Church Chapel.

Kevin is survived by his loving parents, Larry and Carolyn Johnson of Wendell; brother, Tyler John Johnson of Wendell; nephews, Matthew Johnson and Adrian Eddowes; aunts and uncles, Jean and Bill Vaughan of Wendell, Vickie and Tom Vaughan of Wendell, Annette Johnson and Dwight Langley of Wendell, Wayne and Ann Phillips of Missouri, and Larry and Joanne Phillips of Fuquay; and many cousins.

Kevin was an excellent athlete and fulfilled his lifetime dream of playing college football at Greensboro College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology in 2004. 

Kevin was loved and he loved his family deeply which sustained him through difficult times.  We would like to thank our family and friends who prayed and supported Kevin.  We want to give special thanks to his aunt, Annette Johnson (Aunt Net), for all the love and care in helping to take care of him.  

Kevin loved children and Christmas and contributed to St. Jude Children Hospital.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or donate a box to Operation Christmas Child to your local church.
