JON R. BAILEY
January 9, 1947 – July 29, 2025
LOUISBURG – Jon Robert Bailey, 78, of Louisburg, passed away Tuesday morning in his home surrounded by his wife, kids, and grandkids.
Jon was the son of the late Bob Bailey and late Pat Hyde. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Lucretia Bailey; sisters, Katy Finley, Julie Anderton and Jeannie Nall; brother, Mike Bailey.
Jon served on the Youngsville Fire Department from the early eighties to mid 90's, with seven of those years serving as Fire Chief. He was a member of Rock Spring Baptist Church. Jon loved being outside soaking up the sun. He was a welder by trade, owning Youngsville Welding Service for many years. He later retired from Southeast Industrial Equipment where he worked as a Master Forklift Technician. Jon was a jack of all trades. When nobody else could do it, he could. One of Jon’s most memorable accomplishments was building a pumper/tanker fire truck for the Kittrell Fire Dept.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 1st at Rock Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Melton Tyson officiating. The family will receive family and friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.
Jon is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Paulette Bailey; daughter, Jonette Shearin; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Tina Bailey; sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Jim Robertson; brothers and sister-in-law, Don Hyde, Brett Hyde, Mark and Cassie Hyde; grandchildren, Brandon (Lindsey) Arnold; Megan Arnold; Katie Bailey; Emily (Justin) Guzman; great granddaughters, Remilyn and Lexi Arnold; the sweetest canine companion, Daisy; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Franklin County Animal Shelter, 351 T Kemp Rd, Louisburg, NC 27549.
