JOHNNY H. DENTON
Johnny Howard Denton, 93, of the Pilot community passed away Tuesday night, June 16, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.
Johnny, a dedicated family man and a painting contractor for over 60 years. He spent a lifetime honing his craft. Known far and wide, he built a lasting reputation as a professional who was known for being a hard worker with a calm, easy-going nature. Despite showing immense resilience through significant health battles such as a triple bypass, kidney failure, and cancer, he has gone on to his eternal resting place. As big as this world is, it seems a little smaller and less bright without Johnny in it. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a beloved husband, father, and friend.
Johnny was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Benjamin Fenner Denton and Mozelle Rada Williams Denton. In addition of his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Beulah Hollifield Denton, 2nd wife, Janie Bryant Denton; grandson, Sean Worley; sister, Alice D. Rose; stepson, Barry Jeans and step daughter, Teresa Kilmer.
A funeral service will be held 3 pm Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Pine Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Butch Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary from 2:00 - 2:45 pm prior to the service and other times at the home.
