John Fleming Harris, Jr
April 2, 1926 – August 28,2025
John F. Harris, Jr, born April 2, 1926 in Greensboro, NC, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025 in Louisburg, at the age of 99.
He attended Broughton high school, and Oakridge Military Academy. He served in the US Navy as signalman onboard the USS Bedford Victory. After service he returned to Oakridge where he graduated in 1950.
John married Johnsy Beaman in August 1950. They were married for 60 years prior to her death. In 1955 they moved to Goldsboro where he worked for TA Loving Co. until his retirement at 70 years of age.
John always had a servant’s heart and participated in various positions on the Goldsboro Planning Commission. He attended First Presbyterian church and served as Deacon, among other positions. He grew beautiful roses and laid many brick walkways.
They moved to a farm outside Louisburg in 1987. He continued his service with Shiloh Methodist Church as Treasurer, and the Franklin County Cattleman’s Association on the Board, as Treasurer and President 1999-2000. In his retirement he grew hay, raised cattle and surveyed his land on a 4 wheeler.
He was a dedicated husband and father. John was always a great NC State fan.
He is preceded in death by his wife Johnsy Beaman Harris, and son James Bowen Harris.
He is survived by his children; John F. Harris, III (Lisa Rhea), Frances Harris Wilder (Ryon) and daughter in law, Tammy G. Harris; grandchildren, Ryon W. Wilder Jr. (Kayla), Daniel Huffman, Jamie Harris and Harris Wilder (Ashleigh): 4 great grandchildren.
The Memorial service will be held at Shiloh Church, 1636 Mort Harris Rd. Louisburg, on Wednesday September 3 at 2PM. Family will remain after service to greet friends.
