JoAnn Shepherd Gupton

Betty “JoAnn” Shepherd Gupton, 73, of Louisburg, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 16, 2020. She was born April 23, 1947 in Robeson County a daughter of the late William Russel Shepherd, Sr, and Missie (Horne) Shepherd.  JoAnn was predeceased by her husband Leamon Earl Gupton, Sr. 

A funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, August 19, 2020 in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg. Interment will follow at Saints Delight Baptist Church, 565 Firetower Rd. Louisburg.

JoAnn worked as a teacher’s assistant for TMH classes in Franklin County and also as a nurse’s assistant.  She enjoyed crocheting and cross stitching.

JoAnn is survived by her children: Leamon E. Gupton II, (Michelle) of Louisburg, Russel Gupton of Castalia and Melissa Barr (Thomas) of Louisburg; eight grandchildren: Matthew Gupton, Mackenzie Gupton, Holly Gupton Kidd (Daniel), Katlyn Gupton, Nick Gupton, Kelsey Barr, Christopher Barr and Desiree Owens; three great-grandchildren: Tristan, Jamerson, and Christopher; and one brother, Russel Shepherd, Jr. (Elaine) of Whiteville.
