JIMMY LLOYD BOWERS

August 6, 1951 – January 17, 2025

Jimmy Lloyd Bowers, 73, of Franklinton, passed away at home on Friday afternoon surrounded by his family.

Lloyd was the son of the late Uless Lloyd Bowers and Lonnie Mae Taylor Bowers. He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Jessup.

Lloyd was a big fan of Mother Nature.  He worked outside with the timber industry in various jobs such as heavy equipment operator and truck driver.  After retirement his attention was still focused outside as he began vegetable gardening, which he loved sharing with friends and neighbors.  He took his gardening one step further by learning to can/preserve some of the fruits of his labor, which he also enjoyed sharing with many.
 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 PM prior to the service.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patty Lyn Bowers of Franklinton; daughter, Jamie Lyn Abbott and husband Thomas, of Franklinton; sister, Joyce Robbins; grandson, Jeremy Lloyd Abbott, and soon-to-be grandson, Jackson Robert Abbott.
