James Haywood Snell

JAMES H. SNELL

March 3, 1947 – July 10, 2024

James (Jimmy) Haywood Snell, 77, of the Samaria Community, Middlesex, went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday night at Wake Med, surrounded by his family.  Jimmy was born in Wake County, a son of the late Ann Massey and Haywood Forbes Snell. 

He served his country in the Army National Guard and  retired from the NC Department of Correction.  Jimmy was also was a member of the Pilot Fire and Rescue, Bunn Rescue, Pilot Lions Club, but was most well known as the Barber at Pilot Barber Shop where he served his community for many years.  Jimmy was a former member of Pilot Baptist Church and Social Plains Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jane Cone Snell; son, Jeff Snell; brother, Phil Snell of Beaufort and sister, Joy Murphy of Zebulon.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at East Wake Church of God, 2709 NC 97, Wendell, with Pastor Tim Hopkins officiating. The family will receive  friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 am at East Wake Church of God.  Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Zebulon.
