Jackie Taylor Jones
June 16, 1931 – January 22, 2026
Jackie Jones, 94, of Raleigh, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at SECU Hospice House, Smithfield, NC. The family knows she is happy because she is with the Lord and has been reunited with her parents and many loved ones.
Jackie was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC, the daughter of the late Manly “Red” and Mary P. Taylor.
She lived a humble and simple life. She was constantly thinking of and doing for others. Her devotion for her children/grandchildren was beyond measure. She was not only our Mother but our best friend. We were blessed to call her our mom.
Jackie loved the Lord. This was evident in the way she lived her life and her devotion to her church and church family. It was a normal occurrence to see her Bible open, with other study books, studying scripture.
She worked at City-County Bureau of Identification (CCBI) for many years. She began her career working for Rudy Pearce, Director of CCBI as his secretary. They were not only co-workers but were dear friends throughout their lives. Jackie not only had her immediate family, she had her CCBI family whom she immensely loved. The chair that sat by her desk was where you could find Jackie being a mother figure, always taking time to offer advise when asked or just listen when someone needed to talk. In1987, Jackie was nominated and awarded Wake County Employee of the Year. She was completely surprised and humbled to receive this honor and recognition, but she never truly thought she deserved it.
After retirement, Jackie volunteered her time at Central Baptist Church assisting with miscellaneous secretarial duties. She was a Sunday School teacher, teaching the senior citizens. She truly enjoyed spending time with her class members and going on church outings. Her children were told numerous times that she could pray the sweetest prayers and it was evident her prayers came from deep inside her heart. She loved her church and was a faithful member until her health no longer allowed her to attend.
Jackie is predeceased by her parents and her husband, Jack Jones.
She is survived by her children Ron Tidwell (wife Jo); Rhonda Richardson (husband Cliff “Tadpole”); Jim Jones and Scott Jones. Her grandchildren Nicole Phyfer (husband Tige); Christopher Tidwell; and Kayla Eubanks (husband Evan). She is also survived by her great grandchildren Zia Grace Eubanks and Alexis and Trinity Phyfer.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jackie’s memory to Bethany Baptist Church, Wendell, NC Parking Lot Fund or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at SECU Hospice House for the unconditional love, attention, and care shown and given to mama during her time at their facility. Thank you for caring for our mama so lovingly.
Mama, until we meet again, we will always love you, be close to our hearts, cherish your memories, and will miss your sweet smile, your wonderful hugs, and the sound of your soft, tender voice.
“When we all get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory!”
