J. RUSSELL DICKERSON

September 7, 1953 - January 5, 2024

LOUISBURG – James Russell Dickerson, 70, of Louisburg, passed away Friday at his home.

Russell was a son of the late Percy C. and Aileen M. Dickerson. He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Mary Kem Collier; brother, Jerry Van Dickerson, Sr. and sister, Judy Dickerson.

Russell was a loving and dedicated husband, he stood by his wife while she battled cancer in 2022 and 2023 while he was battling cancer himself in 2023. He was a loving brother, uncle and friend. He was a truck driver in the logging industry until his retirement.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary R. Dickerson; sisters and brother-in-law, Helen Sanderlin of Wake Forest; Ann and Fred Wheeler of Franklinton; many nieces and nephews.    

A graveside service will be held 2:30 pm Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Ransdell Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
