HELEN W. WILSON

Helen Wheless Wilson, age 99, of Louisburg, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 4th surrounded by her family.

Helen lived a long and blessed life marked by faith, dedication, and love for her family. She was a proud graduate of Peace College, where she was a member of the college basketball team. The determination and spirit she displayed on the court remained with her throughout her life.

Following graduation, Helen began a distinguished career with Yarborough and Yarborough Law Firm, where she worked faithfully for 50 years. She was a member of the Louisburg United Methodist Church.  Her commitment, professionalism, and strong work ethic earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, clients, and friends throughout the community.

Helen was preceded in death by her first-born child, Gail Johnson; her first husband, Thurman Johnson; her second husband, William Wilson; her stepson, Woody Wilson; and her great-grandson, Jacob Cope; sisters, Martha Hundley, Ruth Lolley and Dorothy Wright; brothers, Robert “Bob” Wheless and Perry Wheless.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ellen Johnson, Martie Boone, and Alice Seybert (Mike); her stepdaughter, Linda Cottrell (Jimmie); her daughter-in-law, Linda Wilson; her grandchildren, Maggie, Joshua (Christie), Roseanna (Stephen), Neela, and Cortney (Justin); her step-grandchildren, Pam Young (Jay), Lisa Mosley (Mike), Lou, Brad, and Paul (Jamie); and eight great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren; brother-in-law, John Wright. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

Helen will be remembered for her kindness, strength, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to her family. She touched countless lives through her generosity, warmth, and quiet grace. She loved playing cards with her buddies and dancing, and she cherished the friendships and memories made through those special times. Her legacy of love and perseverance will continue through the generations that follow her.

A memorial service will be held 4 pm Saturday, June 6th in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory in Louisburg. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial will be held for the family.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who provided care, comfort, and friendship to Helen throughout her life. Helen’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a fire training scholarship fund established in loving memory of her great grandson, Jacob Cope.
