Faye Mitchell Holton
September 23, 1943 – May 7, 2026
On May 7, 2026, the Lord Jesus Christ took Faye Mitchell Holton by her hand and led her into His Heavenly Kingdom. In a divine stroke of timing, Faye arrived just in time to celebrate Mother’s Day with her own mother, Sudie Bell, after so many years apart. A woman of impeccable style, Faye never missed an opportunity to look her best. There is no doubt she entered the Pearly Gates radiant—hair perfectly styled, nails polished and dressed in her finest attire with every accessory carefully chosen. She leaves a legacy of grace and a spirit that shone as brightly as her favorite jewels. A woman of deep faith, she was a member of Louisburg United Methodist Church.
Faye was the second daughter and fourth child of Henry Mitchell and Sudie Bell Carter. She grew up alongside her siblings Burnice, Kenneth, Betty Jane, and Ann, forming a close-knit family, on Old Stantonsburg Road near the Evansdale community, in Wilson County.
She was a graduate of Fike High School (Class of 1961), which launched a dedicated career defined by her sharp intellect and perfectionist touch. Over the years, she served the NC Department of Motor Vehicles and then Mental Health Departments of Wilson and Franklin Counties as a Medical Transcriptionist, later managing accounts payable for a local law firm. Though her career was marked by excellence, Faye’s heart belonged to her family. If asked for her greatest accomplishments, she would answer without hesitation: her daughter, Pam, and her son, Brian.
In 1998, Faye married Dean Holton, and together they shared many wonderful years. They embraced life fully, whether they were traveling or sharing dinners with their close circle of friends. At one point, Faye and Dean were active members of The Gold Wing Road Riders Association and they particularly enjoyed traveling to the "Wings Over the Smokies" rallies.
Faye is survived by her husband, Dean; her daughter, Pamela Massey-Komas (Ken); her son, Brian Phillip Massey (Denise); grandchildren Abigail, Amanda, and Cameron; and great-grandsons Kaleb and Christian. She also leaves behind her sister, Ann Lewis (Warren); her brother, Bernice Mitchell (Donna); and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Jane Boyette; brother, Kenneth Mitchell, Sr.; and bonus son, John A. Holton.
The family wishes to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Faye’s dedicated caregivers, Tilwanda, Sophia, Keimia and hospice nurse Heather.
Pamela and Brian would like to personally thank Dean’s family for accepting and welcoming their mom and our family into theirs. Thank you: Johnny, Annette, Jay, Gil, Debbie, Bethany, Brittany, Jesse, Nancy, Christine, Michael, and Ms. Mary Gail. As well, as close friends Ron and Jan Tracy.
Additionally, Pam would like to thank her amazing support team: Ken, Cam, Anita, Angie, Ginger, Cindy and Deanna for their unwavering support, care, and love.
The family asks that you honor Faye’s legacy of kindness in a profound and practical way. Please consider helping an elderly neighbor with a project they are unable to do themselves. If you know someone who is caring for a loved one with dementia, reach out to let them know that you are there for them. Sometimes just a phone call or an invitation to share a cup of tea means the world.
Faye’s legacy lives on in the memories of her loved ones and in the community, she touched with her grace and compassion. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
