Evelyn Lee Finch
October 27, 1930 – August 3, 2019
Evelyn Lee Finch, 88, of Middlesex passed away on August 3 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center after suffering a stroke. She was born in Nash County, the daughter of the late William V. and Ethel Tippett Lee. She was a Vari-Typist for the Department of Agriculture for 30 years and a full-time grandmother for 35 years. She loved cooking, gardening, and was a true southern lady. Evelyn was a faithful member of Middlesex Baptist Church. She was a strong, compassionate lady who always served others and put their needs before her own. Her grandchildren were the “apple of her eye.”
Mrs. Finch was preceded in death by her siblings: Marvin Lee, William Lee, Ruby Davis, Kathleen Lewis, Agnes Hawkins, Rebecca Baker, Rachel Milam, and Frances Hough. She is survived by her husband of almost 71 years, James Finch, daughters, Sandra Thompson (Keith), Deborah Whitley (Clifton), grandchildren Jamie Thompson, Laura Thompson, Jessica Whitley, Brian Whitley (Melanie), great-grandchild Khloe Whitley, and many special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Middlesex Baptist Church, 11490 W Stewart St, Middlesex, NC. The family will receive friends at the home, 10014 Nash Street, Middlesex at all times. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 6 at 11:00am, Middlesex Baptist Church with visitation from 9:30-10:45am, prior to the service. Entombment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Middlesex.
