July 12, 1936 – August 7, 2021
SPRING HOPE – Eloise Rice Powell, 85, of Spring Hope, died Saturday evening.
Eloise was the daughter of the late Percy and Ethel Privette Rice. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Powell Jr. and her son, Michael Andrew “Andy” Powell and two sisters.
Eloise retired from Nash County Department of Social Services. She was a member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church and served as the choir director. One of her greatest joys was playing the piano for worship, special occasions and family functions. She entertained the residents at Louisburg Manor and their families and staff each Sunday with hymns and delightful music.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday at Duke Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
Eloise is survived by her niece, nephew, sister-in-law and many cousins.
