Martha Elaine Cottrell Duke, 87 of Louisburg, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening at her home.

Elaine was born in Franklin County to the late Joseph Thomas and Meta Lee Stainback Cottrell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Duke; brother, Jack Cottrell, Jr. and her sisters, Hazel Mahoney, Doris Dop and Mary Cecil Rice.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday, December 20th in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial will be held at the Duke Family Cemetery.

Elaine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Steve May; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Margo Duke; David and Rita Duke; Danny Duke; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks are given to her two wonderful caregivers, Margaret and Dian.
