EDWARD G. POWERS
September 16, 1949 – March 6, 2022
LOUISBURG – Edward Gilliam Powers, 72, of Louisburg, died Sunday evening.
Edward was the son of the late Edward and Virgie W. Powers. He was a Vietnam Army Veteran and retired from the NC Department of Correction. He was an avid fisherman and loved western movies.
The family will receive friends 1 – 1:45 pm Friday with a funeral service to follow at 2 pm in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Liberty Christian Church Cemetery.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Violet P. Powers; sons and daughters in-law, Ed and Cindy Powers of Durham; Derek and Brittny Powers of Concord; John and Hollie Powers of Raleigh; sisters and brother-in-law, Jewel Pearce of Zebulon; Joan Finn and Jean Jordan both of Franklinton; Nancy Webb of Youngsville; Joyce and Harry Dupree of Louisburg; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Legion of Franklinton.
