DONALD E. HOWARD

August 30, 1948 – May 14, 2021

RALEIGH – Donald Edward Howard, 72, of Raleigh, died early Friday morning at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Don was the son of the late Edward S. and Catherine G. Howard. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill as part of the Class of 1970, Don continued his education; most notably receiving his Master of Music degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Don pursued his music interests as an employee of the Presbyterian Church, USA; and most recently, Don was a sales associate with Burrage Music Company until his retirement. His love for the arts included singing in church/community choral groups and participating in Community Theater.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.

Don is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Jean H. Quinn and Frank L. Beane; nephews, Eddie Sloop and his partner, Jeff; Bill Sloop and his partner, Sherry; Jay Sloop and his wife, Michele; many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
