Dewey Brantley, Jr. Obituary

Dewey Lee Brantley, Jr.

August 24, 1947 - December 29, 2022

Dewey Lee Brantley, Jr, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 29, 2022.  He will be honored at a service held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 2pm at Midpoint Church, 5407 NC 231, Middlesex, NC 27557.

Lee is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jenny Brantley, his children – Jonay Brantley Brewer and husband, T Brewer; Johnna Brantley Dorough and husband, Trent Dorough; Jantzen Brantley and wife, Natalie Brantley, and his grandchildren – Noelle Elizabeth Brewer, Tanner Stone Brewer, Connor Stone Wayne Dorough, Natalie Janae Dorough, Grace Carroll Brantley, Tucker Stone Brantley, and William Stone Brantley.  He is also survived by his sister Sandi Williams and husband Bill Williams, and sister Marsha Samonia and their families.  He was born on August 24, 1947 in Wilson, NC and was preceded in death by his late parents, Dewey Lee Brantley Sr. and Daisey Taylor Brantley, and nephew, Taylor Samonia.

Lee was known for his love of his family, his love of real estate which was both his career and his hobby, his love for God and helping people, and for his love for talking.  He truly had some of the best stories! After graduating from ECU with a degree in city planning, Lee pursued a career in real estate sales and gradually added other titles to his name including general contractor, real estate appraiser, real estate instructor, and real estate developer. He has been the owner of Branco Realty for over 40 years, giving it the motto “Putting People First Always”. He truly lived out this motto! He used his career as a way to help people and to share God’s love with those who were struggling.

Lee loved listening to worship music, watching ACC basketball and The Beverly Hillbillies, and eating good country cooking.  He had a great sense of humor and was quite the jokester! His greatest joy was his family and he would always do whatever he could to make sure that they were well taken care of.  He expressed love to them regularly and gave the best hugs with a little ear rub to go along with it!  He had a strong inner fortitude that kept him going despite his health challenges.  He touched many lives throughout his time here on earth and will be greatly missed by many.  He has a healthy body now and is in the presence of Jesus.  2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV) says, “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”

The family would like to honor Lee’s main caregiver, Martha Simon.  She has been instrumental in giving Lee the best possible care over the years.  The family is so appreciative of her dedication!  Other people the family would like to recognize are caregivers – Rebecca Alcantar, Graciela Cabrera, Cristina Ramirez, Rosa Martinez, Candace Bunn, and Soundra Brown, and Hospice of Wilson – Dr. Phillip Perkins, Brittany Taylor, Maria Nieto, Kelly Lassiter, Jim Powell, Demita Edmundson, and other supporting nurses & aides.  All of these amazing people have been such a blessing to Lee and to the family!

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lee’s honor to Hospice of Wilson, 2130 Forest Hills Rd W, Suite A, Wilson, NC 27893 or Midpoint Church, 5407 Hwy 231, Middlesex, NC 27557.
