LOUISBURG – Danny Kaye Matthews, 74, of Louisburg, died Thursday evening at his home.

Danny was a son of the late William and Nell C. Matthews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Ann Barber and Betty Jean Coghill; brothers, Bill Matthews, Charles Matthews and Roger Matthews. Danny was the manager of the Louisburg A.B.C. Store until his retirement in 2017.

The family will receive friends 6 – 7:30 pm Wednesday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial service will be held 2 pm Thursday at Hill King United Methodist Church.

Danny is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Geraldine “Geri” P. Matthews; daughters, Tracy Matthews and Dawn Matthews; grandchildren, Branden Shearin, Dustin Shearin and Noah Shearin; great-grandchildren, Haven Shearin, Haddie Shearin and Holland Shearin; sisters-in-law, Marie Matthews and Ann Matthews; many nieces and nephews.
