Charles Taylor Phelps Obituary

CHARLES TAYLOR PHELPS

September 24, 1976 – April 15, 2024

LOUISBURG – Charles Taylor Phelps, 47, of Louisburg, went to his heavenly home on Monday, April 15, at his home.

Born in Durham, NC, Taylor grew up and spent his life in Louisburg. He was the son of Charles T. Phelps and Ann P. Phelps. Taylor was a graduate of Louisburg College and Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, NC.

Even in the face of his hardships, Taylor loved wholeheartedly. He always did anything he could to help those he loved. He was also a very good problem solver, never giving up until he figured things out. Taylor loved music and guitars, and learned to play guitar at a young age and kept playing until he was physically unable to. He loved working on computers and anything electronic. He enjoyed archery and spent countless afternoons shooting his bow and arrows. Taylor always loved fishing with his friends and family, cooking for his family, and making friends wherever he went. Taylor touched the lives of many people. He loved his nephew River Rush with all his heart and spent so much time teaching him about nature. He will truly be missed, and will never, ever, be forgotten.

Taylor was preceded in death by his mother Ann P. Phelps; grandmothers Rachel Terrell and Bertha Moore; grandfathers Gratis Parrish and Charlie Moore; uncle Johnny Phelps and his wife, Mary Helen; and his four legged best friend, Snoopy.

Taylor is survived by his father, Charles T. Phelps; brothers Corbett Ellington, Brandon Rush, both of Louisburg, and Parrish Leonard (Kim) of Wake Forest; sister Donya Rush (Donald) of Louisburg; niece Anna R. Rush; nephew River W. Rush; special friends Lisa Freeman and John Boydston; and his two dogs, Savage and Hendrix. People say dogs are man’s best friend, and they truly were to Taylor.

To honor Taylor’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
