CHARLES E. RAYNOR
August 21, 1927 – September 21, 2023
WAKE FOREST – Charles Elliott Raynor, 96, of Wake Forest formerly of Raleigh, died Thursday evening.
Charlie was a son of the late George Marion and Hattie Belle Shearin Griffin Raynor. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Vernell Gupton Raynor; brother, George Marion Raynor, Jr., half-brothers, Floyd Griffin, Thurman Griffin, Donald Griffin, Robert Griffin, Paul Griffin, Wilbur Raynor and Russell Raynor and half-sister, Leona Raynor Dickens.
Charlie was born and raised in Franklin County, he graduated from Gold Sand High School. He served in the Army in World War II and then went on to work at Cardinal International which is now Raleigh Tractor and Truck and retired as Service Manager after 40 years of service. Growing up he was a member of Centerville Baptist Church. After moving to Raleigh he was a long time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Centerville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Charlie is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Stuart and Barbara Raynor; nephew, Rickey (Betty) Raynor; niece, Cindy (Dan) Edwards; nephew, Archie (Julie) Raynor.
