CHARLES L. WATKINS

Charles Leonard Watkins, 86, passed away on Tuesday evening at his home surrounded by his family.

Charles was born in Wake County, a son of the late Aaron Proctor and Rosa Perry Watkins.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosella Watkins and brothers, Proctor Watkins, Donald (Tink) Watkins and Robert Watkins.

He retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, June 13, 2026, at New Hope Christian Church, Hwy 98, Louisburg, with Reverend Don Cashwell officiating.  The burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall Saturday from 1:00 - 1:45 pm prior to the service.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley Jean Chamblee Watkins; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Regina Watkins; sister, Gracie Rogers; brother, Chester (Buddy) Watkins; grandson, Zachary Watkins and wife, Harley; step-grandchildren, Adam Reynolds and wife, Marlana and Leah Hart; and a host of nieces and nephews to mourn his passing.
