C.W. HOPKINS, JR.
July 9, 1935 – January 25, 2020
MIDDLESEX – Charles Walter Hopkins, Jr., 84 , went home to be with the LORD early Saturday morning at his home with his wife by his side. Junior was born in Nash County, a son of the late Charles Walter Hopkins, Sr. and Odie Brantley Hopkins. He worked as a farmer and in the logging business. Junior loved horses, yard sales, antiques, cast iron pots and pans and a good bargain. He enjoyed playing the guitar, bluegrass music and a good Saturday afternoon cookout. But most of all he loved his family and Christmas was his favorite holiday.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Cone Hopkins; sisters, Lottie Brantley, Dorothy Sanders and Mavis Hopkins; brothers, Oliver, Doliver, Flavius, Tom, Homer and Revel Hopkins.
A celebration of his life will be held 11 am Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at East Wake Church of God, 2709 NC Hwy 97, Wendell, with Reverend Lonnie Humphrey and Reverend Tim Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in the Hopkins Family Cemetery, Middlesex. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at East Wake Church of God and other times at the home, 5708 S. NC Hwy 231, Middlesex.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha Hedrick Hopkins; children, Beverly H. Campbell and husband, Ronald , James Hopkins and wife, Sharon, Ronald Hopkins and wife , Diane, Chris Hopkins and wife, Tammy and Virgil Hopkins; step-children, Devin Adkins and wife, Kelly and Derek Lambert; brother and sister-in-law, Mahlon and Bernice Hopkins of Bowie, Maryland; 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
