Betty Ann Bass

Betty Ann Johnson Bass, 94, of Raleigh, died Friday afternoon, February 24, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Lexi Elgin Johnson and Joda Helen Horton and widow of Robert Harold Bass, SGM SF US Army (RET) and also preceded in death by her daughter, Barbra Lee Bass and her sisters, Minnie Sorrell, Wilhelmina Currin, and Mabel Watkins. Betty was a devoted military spouse traveling with her husband to duty stations in Panama, Okinawa, Germany and the United States.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at East Wake Church of God, 2709 NC 97, Wendell, NC 27591. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Tonya Bassé of Webster, Frieda Bass Stevens and son in-law, Dale Stevens, USAF (RET) of Raleigh; sister, Colleen Massengill of Wendell; grandchildren, Adam Hall and Dylan Hall and her great granddaughter, Lillyanna Hall.
