BENNY ROYSTER HOCUTT

January 17, 1939 – October 26, 2018

ZEBULON  – Benny Royster Hocutt, 79, of Corinth Holders, went home to be with the Lord Friday afternoon with his wife by his side.  He was born in Wake County a son of the late Ronald Hocutt and Jean Flowers Hocutt and was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Hocutt, Jr.

          He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.  Benny never met a stranger and would do anything to help someone.  He worked with NC Department of Corrections and retired in 1999 with more than 30 years of service.  He also was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

          A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Divine Crossings Baptist Church, 440 Little Divine Road, Selma with Reverend Ricky Anderson officiating.  A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

          He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sylvia Earp Hocutt; daughter and son-in-law, Sonya and Jeffrey Moore of Westfield, NJ; son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin and Vanessa of Cary; grandchildren, Ila Gray and George Hocutt, Samantha and Michael Moore.

          In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Divine Crossings Baptist Church, 440 Little Divine Rd., Selma, NC 27576.     

          The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:50 – 2:50 pm at the church and other times at the home.
