BARBARA D. RICE

July 3, 1935 - May 29, 2026

Barbara Driver Rice, 90, of North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 29th at her home in Raleigh.

Barbara was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Grover and Annie Driver.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Carey P. Rice and her brother, Edwin Driver.

Barbara is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Suzanne Rice; Brad Rice; Brian and Simone Rice; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

She began her professional career with the State of North Carolina’s Auditors Office, where she served faithfully for 30 years. Not one to remain idle, Barbara continued her career with Atlantic States Bankcard Association and later finished her working years at the State Bureau of Investigation of North Carolina.

Barbara will be remembered for her love of cooking, gardening, sense of humor, and devotion to family.

A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, June 6th at New Hope Christian Church cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the New Hope Christian Church, 2779 NC 98 Hwy., Louisburg, NC 27549.
