BARBARA DICKENS BENNETT
April 23, 1939 – April 8, 2023
LOUISBURG – Barbara Dickens Bennett, 83, of Louisburg, passed away Saturday morning.
Barbara was the daughter of the late Charlie Dickens and Sadie Driver Dickens and was preceded in death by her husband, James Leo Bennett and her son, Kirby Bennett.
She was active in Hill King United Methodist Church, singing in the choir and playing the piano. She was an outstanding cook and you were guaranteed to never leave her home hungry, even feeding many of the neighborhood cats. She loved being outside and operated her own beauty shop but there was nothing she adored more than her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her children, Leo Bennett (Colleen) of Louisburg, Kim Bennett (Tammy) of Raleigh, and Katrina Boykin (David) of Louisburg; brothers, Charlie Dickens (Shelby) of Raleigh, and James Dickens (Millie) of Louisburg; sisters, Geroleen Hilliard of Clayton, Darrow Beck of Rolesville, Rachel Collier (Darrell), and Judy Stallings, both of Louisburg; and grandchildren, Cameron Bennett, Cody Bennett, and Zachary Bennett.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Hill King United Methodist Church, 1989 NC Hwy 39, Louisburg, NC 27549. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family will accept flowers, or memorials can be made to the Hill King United Methodist Women, 1989 NC Hwy 39, Louisburg, NC 27549.
The family would like to thank everyone at Franklin Manor for all their love, care, and compassion for their mother for the last several years.
