ANNE T. CHAMPION
December 13, 1933 – May 1, 2019
LOUISBURG – Anne Turner Champion, 85, of Louisburg, died Wednesday night, surrounded by family.
Mrs. Champion was a daughter of the late Pomp and Nobie Turner. She married William E. Champion, Sr. of White Level on July 25, 1953. They raised 2 daughters and a son. Anne was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Pomp and Nobie Turner; brothers Eugene, Cecil, Joe and John Turner; sisters Mary Lee Hicks, Elsie Radford and Dorothy Turner; and infant daughter Elizabeth Champion.
Mrs. Champion is survived by her husband of nearly 66 years, William Champion; daughters Dianne Champion of Goldsboro and Linda Thomas (Warren) of Louisburg and son “Billy” Champion of the home; sisters Joyce Crider (Nelson) and Carol Boone; grandchildren Rachel Gurkin (Jamie); Junior Thomas (Rhonda), Earl Thomas and Jimmy Garcia; great-grandchildren Megan King, Ashley and Haylie Thomas, Dalton Cowley and Micaiah Gurkin.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Gupton Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
