PHILIP O. SYKES

May 7, 1927 – July 19, 2017

SPRING HOPE – Philip Orren Sykes, 90, of the Justice Community, died Wednesday afternoon.

Philip was a son of the late James Aster and Laura Bass Sykes. He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Dean Sykes and several sisters and brothers.

Philip was an Army Veteran, a member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Duke Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held at Peachtree Baptist Church Cemetery

Philip is survived by his sons, Phil Sykes of Wake Forest; Jeff Sykes and wife, Denise of Nashville; daughter, Jane Hackett and husband, Bill of Wake Forest; brothers, Bobby Sykes and wife, Janice of Spring Hope; Hassell Sykes of Tenn.; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
