MARY FAYE WRIGHT

February 15, 1936 – June 24, 2017

LOUISBURG – Our beloved, Mary Faye Wright, 81, of Louisburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family that loved her dearly.  Born in Bunn, North Carolina on February 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John Luther and Luttie Boone Young. She was preceded in death by her three loving sisters, Mildred Darcourt, of New Orleans, LA, Glynn Swindell, of Charlotte, NC and Delphie Ann Tharrington, of Roanoke Rapids, NC. and her two brothers, John Luther Young, Jr., and Bobby Ray Young, both of Louisburg.

Family and friends were Faye’s passion and delight in life.  She will always be remembered as a lovely lady that was brilliant, unpretentious, and wise.  Faye was a listener, and when her advice was solicited, you knew she would give you a prudent response that would guide you in the “wright” direction.  Her unconditional love for her family and friends was endless; always loving and supporting everyone for whom they really were.

Faye did something good everyday of her life.  What she did everyday mattered, which made her a true “gem” of a lady.

Lovingly known as “Granny” to her grandchildren and their friends, they could always count on her to make their favorite foods when they came for family meals.  She was an excellent cook, and her grilled cheese sandwiches, string bean casseroles, chicken soup, and mashed potatoes were enjoyed by many and will never be forgotten.

Over the years, Faye participated in and volunteered for numerous organizations. She served as the Worthy Grand Matron of the North Carolina Order of the Eastern Star and an active member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church, where she led the Pastor-Parish committee, served as Treasurer and several other church committees throughout the years.  She loved her church family and she was a servant of God.

Faye leaves behind the love or her life of 64 years, Thomas E. Wright; sons and daughters-in-law, Hugh and Jackie Wright of Louisburg; Drew and Donna Wright of Navarre, FL; Stuart and Tracey Wright of Louisburg; grandchildren, Stuart Wright, Jason Wright (Jessie), Andrew Wright (Laura), Huntley Wright, Samantha Wright and Maggie Sims (Daniel); six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews that were very special to her.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, June 30, 2017, at 10:00am at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory.  A celebration of Faye’s life will begin at 11:00am followed by the burial at Oakwood cemetery in Louisburg.

The family would like to thank Joyce Branch, Felesia Edwards, Ernestine Gupton, Cathy Harris, Sylvia Mayfield, Gail Storey, and Ernestine Upchurch who were Faye’s earthly angels and caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 335

Moulton Rd., Louisburg, NC 27549; James A. Johnson Masonic Lodge 413

or the William B Barrow Chapter 39, NC Order of The Eastern Star, P.O. Box 692, Louisburg, NC 27549.

Knowing Faye, she would want her family to ask that you spend time with your children and grandchildren, take the time to tell them they are loved, give them big hugs, and be good to one another.  That is what “Granny” Faye would wish.
