IVY V. JACKSON

November 19, 1962 – July 5, 2017

YOUNGSVILLE – Ivy Valerie Jackson, 54, of Youngsville, died Wednesday at her home.

Ivy was an incredibly kind woman with a deeply generous heart. She would never cease to have a cheeky smile on her face especially when she was surrounded by her family. Entertaining others and cooking one of her notable dishes brought her so much joy, not to mention, she was a fabulous cook. On a typical afternoon off, you’d find Ivy in her craft room busy with generous portions of glitter, paint, and glue, never quite knowing what she was going to create, but never doubting it was going to be something extraordinary. Just like her artistic talents, Ivy had a unique, impeccable style. She loved thrifting and vintage shopping. Summer was her favorite season for grilling out, pool time, and laying out in the sun. All with silly humor and wit, Ivy lived each day to the fullest. Additionally, she profoundly loved and was loved by so many individuals. Our family will forever miss one of it’s biggest, boldest lights.

Ivy was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Lee Hingle and her step-father, Mark Hingle.

Ivy is survived by her daughters, Natasha Wetzel and Valerie Jackson; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Christina Wetzel; Michael and Joanne Wetzel; father, Gene Garrett and friend Frankie Fanelli; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip and Christina Garrett; A.J. Garrett and Diane Wright; 4 grandchildren, Aiyanna Corthell, Shayla Corthell, David Maher Jr., and Alaric Maher.   

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Harris Chapel Baptist Church. A private burial will follow in the Harris-Winn Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
