E. RAEFORD HAYES

March 11, 1937 – July 16, 2018

LOUISBURG – Edward Raeford Hayes, 81, of Louisburg, died Monday evening.

Raeford was a son of the late George Ernest and Bessie Edwards Phelps Hayes. He was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine H. Brock; brothers, Philmore Hayes, Walton Hayes and Russell Hayes.

He was the co-owner of Hayes Brothers Muffler Shop. He was a dedicated hard working husband, father and grandfather. He was a car and gun enthusiast.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 12:30 – 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Raeford is survived by his wife, Vickie W. Hayes; children, Patrick Hayes and wife, Jennifer of Garner; Wendy H. Bunn and husband, Frankie; William “Bill” Hayes all of Louisburg; step-children, Michael Jackson and wife, Christina of Norlina; Kimberly Mustian and husband, Steve of Henderson; brothers, R.T. Hayes and wife, Lucille; George Hayes and wife, Pamela all of Louisburg; grandchildren, Isaac, Jayden, Abby, Chloe, Ruby and Elizabeth.
