          Roderick Tunnell Morgan, 81 of Butner, NC, beloved husband, father and "PaPa" passed away on January 20, 2018 at Teer Hospice House in Durham. 

          He was born on August 15, 1936, to the late Richard H. Morgan, Sr., and Eleanor Tunnell Morgan in Mannings Township, Spring Hope, North Carolina. 

          Roderick is survived by his devoted wife Joan Joyner Morgan of 62 years, his daughter Sandra Morgan Channa, son-in-law Mohan Channa, and loving granddaughter Rani Anjelica Channa of Madison, MS. He is also survived by six siblings, Gene Morgan of Richmond, VA., Linda Lindskoog of Atlanta, GA., Carolyn Shearin (Mickey) of Rocky Mount, NC, Elizabeth Matthews (Sammy) of Knightdale, NC, Gerald Morgan of Louisburg, NC, Derald Morgan of Louisburg, NC, brother-in-law Robert Wayne Joyner (Juanita), sister-in-law, Judy Morgan and many nieces and nephews.

          In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Elmer Vann Morgan and Richard Harvey Morgan Jr, sisters Ruth Wernelle Morgan and Eleanor Brooks Morgan.
          He attended Spring Hope school.  Roderick retired from the US Army Reserves with 25 years of honorable service. He retired from Murdoch Center as Manager of Dietary Food Services with 30 years 3 months. He was employed with Franklin Veneers for 40 years.
          Roderick never met a stranger and loved people.  He and his wife Joan enjoyed square dancing and travelling cross country on their Golden Wing motorcycle.   His other passions were fishing and hunting.  He had two honorary brothers that he enjoyed hunting with, Sylvester and Dale.  He loved his family and was well known for his devotion to his granddaughter Anjelica.  Roderick lived his life as a Christian and devoted son of God.

          A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home conducted by Bishop Jimmy Price. The family will receive friends 6 – 7:30 p.m. Monday at Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg.

          In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St Judes, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
