Everyone in Justice knew Phillip was a loving husband and father, a good farmer, an excellent fisherman, and a great cook. Growing up in a home where fishing was not a recreational activity but a necessary skill, I admired his ability to fill up a cooler and then cook up a feast for the neighbors. If you were lucky you got an invitation to those. Phillip was never shy about sharing his oplnlons and was famous for the phrase "Well .......". He loved his sweetheart Thelma with devotion that was obvious to all. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply and bragged on their accomplishments. Phillip was ahead of his time when men did not do "women's work". He could turn out a top hog and a prize coconut pie. Phillip was an original and one of the last of his generation in Justice. He will be missed.

I'll always remember my sweet grandpa and his humble spirit. My favorite memory is when he would take me fishing, we'd stop by the store and grab a Mountain Dew and a nab... and his laugh when he'd laugh at me for not touching the fish. You'll always be remembered, loved, and cherished.

My heart is with the family. Growing up in Justice, everyone was family. You worked with, went to the store with, went to church with, went to school with family. Philip and Thelma Dean were loving and kind. You saw love between them and love in their eyes for others. They meant so much to me during my childhood and early adult life. They were my friends. Love and prayers to you for peace and comfort.
