LOUIS M. SMITH, SR.

September 19, 1949 – May 12, 2016

LOUISBURG – Louis Melvin Smith, Sr., 66, of the Red Bud Community, died Thursday morning.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delia M. and Bruce Melvin Smith; sisters, Diane Abbott and Beth Simmons; brothers, Mark Warrick and Gary Smith.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Hickory Rock Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Louis is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Charlene Hedgepeth Smith; son, Louis M. Smith, Jr. of Fredericksburg, VA; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly S. and Kevin Tart of Louisburg; The love and joy of his life, his grandchildren, Susan Marie Smith, Dillon Piper, David Tart and Charleigh Tart; great-grandson, Hunter Thorne; sisters, Dale Hamilton of PA; Ursula Leskarac of Germany; brother, Terry Smith of Franklinton..

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hickory Rock Baptist Church, Youth Ministry, 1580 Firetower Rd. Louisburg, NC 27549.
