LOTTIE MURPHY GEANES

May 8, 1927 – August 24, 2017

DURHAM – Lottie passed away on Thursday afternoon at Duke Regional Hospital.

Survivors include her brother, Joe Hurley Murphy; sister-in-law, Mildred Murphy both of Durham; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Winston Geanes; sister, Louise Murphy Twitty; brothers, Hubert Guy Murphy and Willie Lewis Murphy.

Lottie Graduated from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. She taught school in the Norfolk, VA. Public School System for thirty years. After retiring she moved to Durham, NC to be closer to her family. Lottie later joined Edgewood Baptist Church leaving behind a large church family, neighbors and friends.

The family will receive friends 1:30 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service being held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home in Louisburg, NC with Rev. David Trump officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Warrenton, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church, 1807 Infinity Rd., Durham, NC 27712.
