Kenneth King, II Obituary

Kenneth A. King, II

April 30, 1950 - January 22, 2018

Kenneth Ancil King, II, 67, of Louisburg, N.C., passed peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord early on Monday morning, January 22, 2018, after a 12-year battle with prostate cancer.  He was surrounded by family in the comfort of his home at the time of his passing.  Ken was a faithful and devoted servant of God, a loving husband, caring father, and friend to all.

Ken was born on April 30, 1950, in Noble County, Indiana, to Kenneth and Mary Louise King.  He grew up in Rome City, Indiana, and spent his youth at Sylvan Lake in Indiana where he loved boating and skiing in the summer and ice skating in the winter.   Ken also enjoyed Hoosier basketball and after graduating from East Noble High School in 1968 he cheered on his team at Indiana University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in 1972.

Ken met the love of his life, the former Margaret “Sissy” Webb, in the summer of 1969 during a serendipitous trip to Virginia Beach that sparked a 47-year love affair.  Ken married Sissy in 1973 and later began a family in Kendallville, Indiana before moving to Louisburg, North Carolina in 1985.  He resided in Louisburg for the remainder of this life having lovingly restored the historic Clifton home place.

Ken enjoyed a long and fruitful career, first as a real estate agent in Kendallville with his own firm, and later as a certified financial planner in North Carolina with A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc. (now Wells Fargo Advisors).  He fervently believed in honesty, integrity, and honoring commitments and applied those principles to every aspect of his career.  As an example of his dedication to those values, he recently celebrated 35 years of service with Wells Fargo Advisors.

While Ken loved his work, he loved God and his family above all.   Ken was a devoted husband who loved and respected his wife. He was also a loving and supportive father who involved himself in the lives of his children.  He always guided them and supported them during each phase of their lives and loved them unconditionally.

When he wasn’t spending time with his family, Ken enjoyed serving his community and putting his talents to work in service to others.  He served 4 years as a member of the Franklin County School Board of Education in the mid 1990’s and helped facilitate the merger of Franklinton School System and Franklin County Schools.  He was an assistant Boy Scout leader for Troop 555 and a Past Master at the James A. Johnson Lodge No. 413 AF & AM Masonic Lodge in Louisburg.  During his heroic battle with cancer he served as a mentor to other cancer patients and gladly and candidly shared his story and the wisdom he learned along his journey.

Ken was a man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await him after his passing.  His strength, courage, and faith was, and is, a guiding light to all who knew and met him.

Ken is survived by his wife, Margaret King; his two daughters and their spouses, Jessica King (Robert King) and Margo Carnahan (Patrick Carnahan); son Ryan King; brother David King; and three grandchildren.   Ken was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise King, and father, Kenneth Ancil King.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Louisburg United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
