Judith Stallings Alford

February 14, 1931 – April 27, 2016

PILOT-Judith Stallings Alford, 85, from the Pilot Community passed away in her home on Wednesday evening April 27th. She had been battling cancer for nine months, but took on every day with strength, a smile and a great attitude. Judith (Mema), was a tremendous family person, always putting her family before herself.

Judith is survived by her sons Chris H. Alford and Jan S. Alford and wife Teresa, and special grandchildren Jason Alford and wife BrieAnna of Pilot and Stephanie Alford of Apex and sisters Nell Williams of Pilot, Evelyn Horton of Pilot, and Florence Williams and husband Milton of Pilot.

She was born in Franklin County and was preceded in death by her husband Johnny H. Alford, her parents Herbert Edward Stallings and Mary Oma Stallings, and sister Mary Edward Stallings.

Mrs. Alford was a graduate of Bunn High School, Campbell College, and East Carolina University. She was a teacher at Smithfield Elementary, Bunn Elementary, and Wendell Elementary, spending most of her years at Wendell. After her retirement she was a homemaker and helped to care for her grandchildren. She was a member of Pilot Baptist Church and spent many years as a Sunday School Teacher. She was known for being a great baker of pies and cakes and enjoyed making deserts for others in times of need in the community.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:15 pm Sunday afternoon at Pilot Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Alford Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 2:00 – 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
