JOHN W. GILBERT

May 9, 1928 – May 20, 2017

LOUISBURG – John Willis Gilbert, 89, of Louisburg, died Saturday evening.

John was the son of the late John Walter and Hattie Bell Young Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann Gilbert, Melody Ward, Nancy Yates, Polly Chriscola, Pat Sanders and Leola Micco.

John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His passion was farming and loved farm tractors.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

John is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruby H. Gilbert; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and John Lawing of Greensville, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Nancy Gilbert of Louisburg; grandchildren, Amanda Gilbert and Wayne Gilbert.
