ARCHER LODGE – Jimmy Wayne Driver, 77, went home to be with the LORD Sunday morning at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. He was born in Johnston County, a son of the late William H. and Victoria Willoughby Driver. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn W. Driver and brother-in-law Jay Richardson.
Jimmy retired from the NC Department of Corrections and was a veteran of the US Army. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a pillar in the community where he never met a stranger and had coached little league baseball having touched many young children. He was a fan of the Mudcats and will be missed by many.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held 12:30 pm Wednesday at White Oak Baptist Church, with visitation prior to the service 10:45 – 12:15 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley N. Driver; sons, Jamie Driver and friend Debbie Robertson of Raleigh and Joey Driver of Clayton; sister, Pat D. Richardson of Zebulon; brother, W.H. “Boot” Driver and wife Judy of Zebulon; granddaughters, Cortney D. Batten and husband Randall and Olivia Driver.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Rd., Smithfield, NC 27577.
