BAILEY – J. Edd Perdue, 86, of Perry Rd., went home to be with the LORD Monday morning at his home. He was born in Louden, TN, youngest son of the late Theo Henry and Sallie Smith Perdue. Edd was the last remaining member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold, Austin and Doyle Perdue and a sister, Polly Wilson.
Mr. Perdue had a lifetime of Church and Civic service. He was a member of Nobles Chapel Baptist Church where he served as Deacon Emeritus.
In 1956 he was nominated young man of the year in Lenoir, NC, a charter member of Lenoir Junior Chamber of Commerce. He served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Marine Sergeant.
A funeral service will be held 3 pm Thursday at Nobles Chapel Baptist Church with visitation prior to the service from 1:15 until 2:45 pm.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Deborah Hufer Perdue; children, Jana and Steve Hoyle of Bennett, Martha and Jay Clifton of Morganton, Todd and Kathryn Perdue of Lenoir, and Dawn and Brock Womble of Clayton; grandchildren, Lindsey Lawhon (Andy), Patrick Smith, Tanner Clifton, Ben Perdue (Molly), Sarah Perdue, Bryce and Melinda Womble; great-grandchildren, Cannon and Beckham; mother and father-in-law, Eleanor and Horst Hufer of Raleigh; sisters-in-law, Nell Perdue and Patricia McClaugherty; several nieces and nephews.
