Elton Calvin Price

September 18, 1923 ~ April 25, 2016 (age 92) 92 Years Old


Elton Calvin Price, 92, passed on into eternal peace in the everlasting arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday, April 25, at the Brian Center of Clayton, North Carolina.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Melba C. Price.  He is survived by daughter, Carolyn Mahon and husband, Tom, of West End, son, Bill Price of High Point, daughter, Judy P. Dellinger of Raleigh, daughter, Sandi P. Wells of Clayton, grandsons, Jonathan Price and wife, Jules, of Durham, Jeremy Price and wife, Jessica, of Mt. Holly, Kevin Mahon and wife, Kelli, of Wahiawa, HI, great grandchildren, Jacob and Abby, brothers, Joseph, Wilton and Percy (wife, Jeanette), half sister, Maude Ann Creech (husband, Phil), half brother, Steve Price (wife, Janet) and countless nieces, nephews and friends who loved him and will cherish the sweet memories they shared with him.

Funeral service will be held 4 pm Thursday at Friendship FWB Church, Middlesex, with burial to follow in the church cemetery with military honors.  The family will receive friends Thursday  prior to the service from 2:30 - 4:00 pm in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home of Sandi P. Wells, 716 Corbett Rd., Clayton.

Elton was born in Johnston County, eighth of eleven children born to Lether and Eva Hales Price.  He was a long-time member of Friendship FWB Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and all the church activities.

He was tremendously proud to have served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, actively participating in the Normandy Invasion.  Until the last year he was still active in his local VFW (Bailey), speaking with his brothers each year at area schools of their WWII experiences, and serving as a member of the Honor Guard.  He was honored at numerous local Veteran Luncheons, several Flight of Honor trips to Washington, Military Appreciation Days, and the D-Day 70th Anniversary Ceremony in Bedford, Virginia.

Elton will be well remembered for his love of his family and many friends.  He touched countless lives and was dearly loved by many; he will be tremendously missed by all those who knew him.
