EDWIN “BUDDY” TIPPETT

April 23, 1938 – Nov. 12, 2016

SAMARIA – Edwin “Buddy” Tippett, 78, went home to be with the Lord peacefully Saturday with his wife and family by his side.  He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law and papa buddy.  Buddy was a retired truck driver, served in the National Guard, a charter member and retired fire chief of Ferrells Fire Department and Rescue.  He worked with the Ferrells Community Little League as a coach and a member of the Ferrells Ruritan Club and a former deacon of Samaria Baptist Church.  He was never happier than when spending time with his family and helping others in need.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruthie Tippett and twin sister, Evelyn Tew, mother and father-in-law, Arthur and Willie Williams; special cousins, Hazel Boykin and Billy Tant.

     Funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday at Samaria Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

     Surviving his wife of 56 years, Faye Tippett; children, Art Tippett (Libby), Robbie Tippett, and Dale Tippett (Joann); grandchildren, Joshua Tippett, Magan Tippett Winstead (Josh), Mikayla Strickland, Jonathan and Amanda Tippett; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Tippett, Brooklyn and Ava Winstead.

     The family will receive friends Tuesday 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Samaria Baptist Church and other times at the home.
