Mrs. Doris Jean Hinton Stone went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 4, 2016.  She was born June 6, 1935 to the late Reverend Isaac Hilliard Hinton, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Griffin Hinton. She was a loving, caring, compassionate, dedicated Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  To know her was to know the love of God.  Doris had a deep commitment to her family, her friends, and to her church.  Her dedication and faith was the strength of her very essence and it was evident upon her last breath as Heaven welcomed her with open arms.  Mrs. Stone was a retired Nash County educator who worked with exceptional children for twenty years.

 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stone was predeceased by a son, Gary Harold Stone; brothers Isaac Hinton, Jr., Joseph Hinton, Everett Hinton and sister Thelma Hinton Stone.

 

Mrs. Stone is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jesse Harold Stone; and was blessed with five sons Rev. J. Roy Stone (Sandra) of Griffin, Georgia, Kim Stone (Susan) of Cleveland, Tennessee, Jeff Stone (Darlene) of Middlesex, North Carolina, Dan Stone (Banae) of Monroe, Michigan, and Rev. Tracy Stone (Lisa) of Griffin, Georgia; one daughter, Patty Whittington (Joe) of Middlesex, North Carolina; grandchildren Jacquelynn Ingle, Stephanee Sheets, Jessica Mundy, Courtney Stone, Ava Stone, Jonathan Stone, Jade Hawkins, Joseph Whittington, Jacob Whittington, T J Stone, Whitney Golde and Brett Hargis; great-grandchildren Jaylee Dyer, Zoee Sheets, Hailee Sheets, Kourtlynn Mundy, Malachi Mundy, Jonah Mundy, Ester-Joelle Mundy, Mattus Stone, Broxton Stone, Emmet Stone, Piper Hawkins, Barrett Hawkins, Luke Golde, Emilie Golde, Jake Golde, Reed Hargis, and Ella Hargis.

 

Mrs. Stone is also survived by her brother, Melvin Hinton of Middlesex and sister, Marion Little of Rocky Mount, NC.

 

The children of Mrs. Stone wish to express sincere appreciation and a special thank you to Tina Lloyd and Georgia Mitchell for the exceptional care they provided for our mother.

 

The Family will receive friends at the Middlesex Church of God, 5407 South NC 231 Hwy, Middlesex, NC on Friday evening, April 8, 2016 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM.  Her life and ministry on this earth will be celebrated at the Middlesex Church of God on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM.  Commemorating her life will be her Pastor, Reverend Ed Toler and her son, Reverend Tracy Stone.  Mrs. Stone will be laid to rest in the Stone Family Cemetery adjacent to the Middlesex Church of God.
